This 12-x-18-foot oil on canvas by American artist, John Trumbull, depicts the draft of the Declaration of Independence being presented to Congress by a five-person drafting committee, June 28, 1776. It is sometimes described, incorrectly, as the “signing” of the Declaration of Independence, which took place at a later date.
