Completed in 1892, this oil-on-canvas by French impressionist, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, represents his late period (1892-1919). It was an informal commission from the  Musée du Luxembourg . Renoir painted three other variations of this composition in oil and two sketches, one in oil and one in pastel. Known by the artist as repetitions, they are on public display at the  Musée d'Orsay  in Paris, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the  Musée de l'Orangerie  in Paris.
